Gretchen's Nutmeg Cake
1 1/4 cups butter
1/4 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. nutmeg
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 350.
Cream butter, shortening, and sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time.
Combine flour, salt, baking powder, soda, and nutmeg. Add in amounts alternating with buttermilk; add vanilla.
Pour into greased 9 x 11 pan or two 9-inch round pans; bake until toothpick comes out clean.
If desired, frost with Seafoam Frosting.
