Ingredients and Recipe Instructions
Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies

3 cups sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup soft butter
1 egg
3 tbsp. milk or cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract.



Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in the butter until the particles are fine. Beat the egg slightly and add it in. Add the cream and vanilla extract.

Blend thoroughly. The dough may be refrigerated if necessary.

Roll out on floured pastry cloth or board to 1/8 inch thickness.

Sprinkle with sugar; cut into desired shapes. (Or sprinkle with colored sugar after cutting.)

Bake at 400 degrees F. for 5 to 8 minutes until delicately browned.

Makes 6 to 7 dozen.
